If the frayed make-up and wild hair at Topshop Unique, Preen by Thornton Bregazzi and Zandra Rhodes left you wanting to know exactly what happened behind the scenes, allow us to introduce beauty’s big night out.

“It’s 3am and the girls have just left the club,” explained Unique beauty consultant Hannah Murray. Thankfully, our names were on the guest list for the backstage beauty disco, where Murray explained that next season’s Saturday night “starts with thick liner across the lids, giving a punk feel” (above). Over by the hair bar, stylist Anthony Turner was serving up “extreme versions of the models’ hair. It’s as if the gang were getting ready together for a party at Boombox,” he said. Party people at Preen brought an edge of rock ’n’ roll to the scene, “with hair reminiscent of Joan Jett,” explained hair stylist James Pecis. Zandra Rhodes’ girls strutted through the Studio 54 doors, “sexy and unafraid of make-up,” said Andrew Gallimore, who created three-toned eyes using MAC AW16 Palette in Plumplexed. On the other side of town, Mary Katrantzou’s crew bopped to the beat in MAC Dance With Me Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick.

Your disco needs you, but not as much as we need its beauty.
