Who doesn’t love Minnie Mouse? From childhood we have all been indoctrinated into the world of Disney and become friends with many of its beloved characters, Minnie being perhaps the favourite of them all. Forget Mickey and his male counterparts, it’s all about that gal with the polka dot dress and bow in her hair……or should that be ears?
Now Minnie Mouse has become a muse to various London based designers and the small but perfectly formed exhibition of wares at London Fashion Week showcases a range of work from Tatty Devine to Michael Van Der Ham, all of which take inspiration from the mouse with the mostest.
The exhibition contained bags adorned with giant mouse ears, courtesy of quirky accessories designer Lulu Guinness, as well as a magnificent retro style dress by Giles Deacon beautifully emblazoned with iconic images of the mouse of the moment herself.
After the Spice Girls performed at the Olympics closing ceremony, girl power seems to be back in vogue, and now Minnie is having her well deserved time in the limelight. Doing absolute justice to the history of this much loved cartoon character, the ‘Inspired by Minnie Mouse’ exhibition was definitely one of the highlight’s of the London Fashion Week exhibition.
