Nichola Joss, St.Tropez’s Global Skin Finishing Expert shares her skin inspiration and look for the Roksanda Ilincic S/S’13 runway.
“This morning, I jumped in a cab and headed straight to Roksanda’s house as she needed a facial before her show. As she was unveiling her S/S’13 collection to an international audience (her guests included Anna Wintour), she wanted to look as fresh-faced as possible. Roksanda has pretty much flawless, ethereal skin however, to perfect it I used The Sanctuary Spa Active Reverse Facial (which I’ve specifically developed for the spa in Covent Garden) as it brightens, lifts and tones facial muscles.
It was then a dash to get to The Savoy for an 8am call time – although completely worth it when I arrived, as it’s my favourite venue in London. The powder blue and white decorative ballroom always looks so grand and impressive – it’s the perfect chic venue to introduce Spring/Summer looks.
With a collection inspired by 60s-70s self-taught artist, Niki de Saint Phalle, high-coloured shapes and fluro colours exaggerated and emulated the female form. I wanted to keep skin simple and decluttered working with the designer’s relaxed style and the garments’ amber hues. Myself and my St.Tropez team picked up on the 70s tones running through the collection and transposed it on to the skin in a fresh, peachy shade that hints at shimmer – perfect for sun-drenched summer days and long hot nights.
To get the look, we used applied a sheer tint of colour with St.Tropez Wash Off Lotion to all of the models, then glided limbs with a mixture of the St.Tropez Rose and Gold Illuminators. A final touch of the Shimmer Stick was then layered over the top at line-up which added a warm, apricot tone with a light-bouncing sheen for a beautifully fresh way to work summer skin – giving limbs a wake up call with a light, fruity tan.
I’m really proud of my tanning and skin finishing team this LFW, as every model needs a tan for the Spring/Summer season so we’ve had lots of ground – and skin – to cover!”
