“I’m like a kid in a candy shop,” exclaimed Yasmin Sewell at Sophia Webster’s packed presentation in Belgrave Square. “The shoes, the bags… it’s all bubblegum happiness!”

Inside oversized toy-doll ‘Sophia’ packaging, live models stood static like giant Barbies to showcase Webster’s psychedelic stilettos and add-on accessories such as bags and hair bobbles. Polka Dot Dreams, Rio Funtime, Flamingo Fantasy or Aztectastic – take your pick.

“My designs are very tongue-in-cheek with a quirky mix of style and humour,” said the designer at the event. They sure are, but she missed out “coveted by all who see them”.

Alex Fury of Love magazine is already a fan. “Her shoes are like fantasy Manolo Blahniks from 15 years ago, but really right for now,” he told us. “Great for a 20-year-old in a trendy East End dive or a sophisticated socialite in the Upper East Side of Manhattan.” This is especially true considering that they are priced from £200 and made in Rio de Janeiro (where much of her colour inspiration comes from).

“Expressive but not expensive,” explains Webster. The shoe designer to watch, we say.
