Hair’s biggest heroes can’t stop playing with dye and neither, for that matter, can fashion folk. The courtyard at Somerset House is awash with pink ponytails, turquoise tips, even an azure blow-dry. But this colour dalliance feels less contrived than that of seasons past.

In New York, Eugene Souleiman wove tresses with streaks of tourmaline, teal and dusty rose at Peter Som, all to rapturous Twitter applause. Anna Sui’s models sported rainbow weaves atop their natural locks for a punky two-tone finish.

Back on home shores, Bleach London’s Alex Brownsell stepped up with metallic-green ponies to accompany an abundance of sequins at Markus Lupfer (right). “I wanted them to look like mermaids’ tails. I’ve been playing with the concept of making colour metallic because these murky, iridescent tones are more wearable than the brights of before,” she explained.

We hear brows are next up… Anyone keen?
