“They are my three passions in life: film, fashion and sustainability,” says Livia Firth at the launch of Green Cut (right), her eco-initiative, in association with the BFI, the BFC and Amex. Passions that exactly match the brief given to eight designers this season. The challenge? To create bespoke eveningwear that is both glamorous and ethical, inspired by iconic British films.
The initiative led the likes of Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, Marios Schwab and Roksanda Ilincic to get involved, creating gowns based on John Schlesinger’s Darling (Ford) and Harold Pinter’s Accident (McCartney), for example.
“It made us think in new, conscious ways,” says Schwab of the project. “We all came away educated.”
