Let’s be honest, everyone knows that Erdem is a lovely boy, but for A/W 12 he’s gone all tough on us. We really didn’t think he had it in him – after all, he is the prince of dainty floral prints that have made him so popular with a Duchess – Kate Middleton – and First Ladies – Michelle Obama and Samantha Cameron. But it turns out that Erdem does have a dark side, although it’s every bit as beautiful and wearable. Embellished, coated tweed separates set the tone, but it was the painterly prints and black lace that felt new and fresh from Erdem. This was much more than print, the cut of the dresses and the faultless fit of the skinny trousers will be endlessly flattering, while the standout fuchsia skirt paired with sharp black lace, and the royal blue “matador” suit proved that Erdem isn’t scared to try something new. This was perfect prim with edge, something that only Erdem could achieve.
