Forget fillers and surgery, this season’s backstage beauty teams have a far more fashion-forward (and considerably less painful) approach to achieving eternal youth – and killer cheekbones, too.
“We wanted to give the girls a dose of extra cheekbone,” explained session stylist Peter Gray backstage at Paul Smith. “We took small panels of hair from behind each ear and secured them tightly together at the back of the scalp to lift the face, before concealing them and working up cool, stylised ponies.”
This new technique isn’t just a default process, but a specific element of the final beauty look. Hair hero Luke Hersheson described his sleek, shiny look at Peter Pilotto (right) as “part ballet bun, part Croydon face lift. At Jonathan Saunders, the aim was to achieve wide androgynous brows, so a beauty team of Lucia Pieroni and Paul Hanlon agreed to bind ponytails extra tight to “lengthen them and strengthen the facial architecture.” Naturally, we’re thrilled.
