House of Holland

Sunday 19 February 2012

A pink and purple iPhone-case invitation, and tweets about “hairdressers popping in to trim the bangs” – we expected cheeky nonchalance from House of Holland but it’s all slightly more serious than before. “It started with Mork and Mindy doing the Tour de France, but it’s beautifully made and there are some classic pieces,” Holland told us beforehand. “She’s kind of growing up with the brand.” It was colour that made the headlines – hoops of yellow, red and black made up jersey body stockings or flippy minidresses worn with leather caps. Eye-popping pink and fuchsia or blue and navy houndstooth infused a Seventies feeling that expanded to flared trouser suits, multicoloured zigzags and denim all-in-ones. But he’s right – she’s growing up: double- faced cashmere jackets with fur cuffs and beautifully fitted silk dresses attest to that. With a bright green goat-hair shoulder bag here and a line-up of cheering front-row lovelies (Alexa, Pixie, Poppy, Jade) there, though, it’s the House of Holland we still love to love.
